Overview
Our arts subjects teach students to create, present and evaluate various arts disciplines. Subjects include dance, drama, music and the visual arts at beginner and more advanced skill levels.
These subjects prepare students for further study and employment in arts and culture industries.
The following subjects are available:
Students choose one or several arts disciplines for this subject. They learn to develop and present creative arts products from musicals and plays to visual art, design and film. Students also analyse and evaluate the creative arts, and learn how they contribute to and shape communities.
Students learn how to understand, create and respond to dance in a range of contexts. Learners develop critical and creative thinking, personal and social skills, and intercultural understanding.
This subject covers company and performance, understanding and responding to drama, and drama and technology. Students develop their creativity, collaboration, critical thinking, communication skills and self-belief.
Students can choose from two streams—Music Experience and Music Advanced.
Music Experience is designed for students who have basic skills in music. Students develop their musical understanding, and skills in creating and responding to music.
Music Advanced extends students’ musical understanding, and skills in creating and responding to music
Students learn through exploring and experimenting with music. They develop musical literacy and use critical and creative thinking to respond to their own and others’ musical works.
Students develop and extend their practical music-making skills through performing in an ensemble. They apply their musical understanding, skills, and techniques in refining and performing music.
Students develop and extend their practical music-making skills through performing with instruments, their voice, or both. They develop stage presence and skills in engaging an audience.
This subject aims to develop the complete musician—composer, performer and critic. Students develop and refine their musical works, and build their musical imagination and appreciation.
Students develop skills in the creative process. They move from the initiation of ideas to experimentation with media and technique to producing practical work. Students develop ideas and concepts, refine their technical skills, and produce imaginative solutions.
This subject area covers communication and graphic design, environmental design, and product design. Students learn to generate ideas and concepts, and communicate their solutions.
