SACE assessment model
In a Stage 2 subject, assessment is split into two sections. The school assessment section is worth 70% of the final grade, while an external assessment is worth 30% of the final grade.
Students complete a mixture of assessments for their school assessment component, including tests, essays, or oral or multimodal presentations. School assessment work is assessed by the school. Teachers grade student work according to the SACE performance standards from A+ to E-. A moderation process for all Stage 2 subjects is carried out to ensure that grading is consistent across all schools.
External assessment includes examinations, which can be written, oral or electronic, or investigations. These are developed and marked by the SACE Board.

Special support for students
Extra support can be provided for students who have a disability, or have been affected by situations beyond their control such as illness or accident. This support might include reasonable adjustments, such as a rest break during an exam. These adjustments can vary between subjects and assessments according to the needs of the student.
